IML greasing the wheels for Svitol bike lubricants

Casone svitol

If you thought luxurious look & feel packaging effects are meant for high-end products only, think again. The new Svitol Bike lubricant container is taking center stage in the maintenance aisle, Matte and Spot UltraGloss IML effects as a playful packaging element reflecting the product and its functionality in the most fluid way.

Shelf appeal with Matte & UltraGloss IML

From chain cleaner and super-degreaser to lubricant for all-round maintenance: Svitol BIKE offers a complete range for bike maintenance. In a market segment that targets 'those who get their hands dirty', one could be quick to assume that packaging plays a less important role. But that doesn’t hold true for Svitol.

Svitol wanted to go all-in on shelf appeal, creating packaging that attracts the buyer’s attention in the blink of an eye. Compared to decoration techniques such as screen printing, offset or transfer, IML was the perfect solution as it just looks much more qualitative. On top, it allows for look & feel effects to give it that extra special touch.

Davide Fornasari, Management Engineer & Purchasing Manager at Casone

" The dark colors of the container and label artwork are the ultimate playground for Matte & UltraGloss IML. The label design with its sleek curves and bike parts just pops more thanks to the alternation between matte and glossy elements," says Davide Corsini, Regional Sales Manager IML at MCC.

Smooth production of IML packaging

Italian-based Casone is a seasoned injection molder, with more than 15 years of experience in in-mold labeling. “Our product range covers practically all capacities up to 60 liters. Being present in the construction/industrial market as well as the food sector, we recommend IML as a very flexible technique that allows for any type of decoration while still maintaining costs,” says Davide Fornasari at Casone.

In this particular project the main challenge occurred when preparing the print file, evaluating and defining the glossy zones. But once we started producing, we didn’t notice any differences in injection compared to standard labels.

“The printing and finishing of these labels holds a little more technical work behind the scenes, but the result is spot-on and a major added value for the brand,’ says Davide.

Meeting expectations through collaboration

Demanding circumstances ask for a well-oiled partnership. “I was very satisfied with the collaboration with MCC. Starting from scratch, we were able to meet the high expectations of our customer in a short time span,’ Davide Fornasari concludes.
