Besides white orange peel and glossy IML labels, more and more markets also use transparent IML labels. This option offers the possibility to create a see-through surface on the package, keeping colors vivid using the SuperWhite feature.

Packaging producers can offer these features using their existing production set-up. However, some technicalities need to be taken into account:

• Grain direction
• Overlap zone

The transparent IML label is available for injection molding and blow molding. It is currently under development for thermoforming IML.

Markets such as confectionary, ice cream and pet foods are particularly interested in transparent IML, because this option offers the no-label look.
