Reducing and recycling production waste
Rational energy and resource consumption has always been one of the corner stones of MCC Verstraete’s sustainability vision. Put into practice, optimization of raw material consumption and reducing production waste go hand in hand.
To lead production waste to a minimum, our team has set up guidelines to limit the proportion of bad PP printing sheets. But that’s not all - the minimal amount of production waste that is left, is given a second life. Did you know that 96% of all our production waste is being recycled?
Waste turns into rPP
MCC Verstraete has a longtime close collaboration with a plastic recycling company nearby. What is left of the polypropylene sheets after production, is being recycled into a new basic raw material, recycled PP (rPP) granules. These rPP granules are in turn being sold to third parties for making new products such as flower pots, but MCC Verstraete has also found a way to close the loop by creating plastic pallets for storing and transportation for its own facilities.
