SealPPeel first to receive joint approval by APR & RecyClass

A transatlantic premiere for SealPPeel die-cut lidding, as it’s the first technology to receive joint approval by APR and RecyClass. Applied on PP packaging, SealPPeel technology is now recognized as fully compatible with PP white as well as colored recycling streams in both the US and Europe.
SealPPeel is a polypropylene die-cut lidding solution, introducing an alternative to commonly used aluminum lidding. Applied to PP packaging, the packaging becomes mono-material, improving the sorting and plastic recycling processes.
The improved recyclability is now a recognized fact, as both the North American based Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) and European RecyClass have examined SealPPeel according to their respective protocols*.

“We strongly believe mono-material packaging is the way forward. SealPPeel was developed to enable brand owners and packaging manufacturers to create mono-material packaging – fully recyclable and in line with Design for Recycling guidelines," says Stijn Quintyn, Business Development Manager at MCC’s IML business unit.
We’re very proud that our die-cut lidding solution receives this international recognition. It proves that SealPPeel is indispensable in the industry’s pursuit to more sustainable packaging"

APR and RecyClass to harmonize DfR guidelines
March 2023, The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) and RecyClass announced a collaboration agreement, aiming to drive global harmonization on Design for Recycling of plastic packaging.
The approval of MCC’s SealPPeel die-cut lidding is the first joint approval since the collaboration agreement. With a shared commitment to increasing high-quality plastic recycling and its uptake in new products globally, the two organizations will use these results to further harmonize their protocols and guide the plastic value chain towards common standards on plastic circularity.
*Independent testing was carried out by the Institut für Kunststofftechnologie und -recycling e. V. (IKTR), following APR Testing Protocols and RecyClass Recyclability Evaluation Protocols.
