MCC Verstraete donates 20 laptops to the MakeAMove project
Maldegem, 19 April '21 - MCC Verstraete took on the sponsorship of the Maldegem MakeAMove project at its inception. In addition to the financial commitment to support 300 children with school supplies, clothing, etc., the company is now also providing material support by donating 20 laptops.
Doing more than expected
The MakeAMove sponsorship initially entailed a financial commitment. MCC Verstraete was the first to sign up for the project in September 2020, setting the example for many local residents and other companies in the neighborhood. At the start of this year, the project had already collected 43,800 euros to pay the schooling costs of children and young people who are less well off at home.
But the company does not want to stop at mere financial support. "We have been committed to this initiative from the beginning and want to extend our sponsorship beyond financial support. For many families, the purchase of a computer or laptop is a major investment. We have 20 laptops that are still in perfect condition, but are no longer used in our departments. So it is with great pleasure that we donate them to MakeAMove," says Peter Grugeon, Managing Director of MCC Verstraete.
Investing in the welfare of employees and the neighborhood is one of the pillars of the company's sustainability vision. With its involvement in MakeAMove, MCC Verstraete puts its money where its mouth is.
The start of a beautiful course
Marleen Van den Bussche, the competent alderman of Maldegem, is enthusiastic about the donation: "Not only is a laptop necessary for school tasks and general digital literacy, it also has a social aspect: young people spend a lot of their free time online and of course children from families with financial worries don't want to be "different" from their friends who do have a laptop or tablet. These laptops therefore benefit the MakeAMove project in several dimensions!"
Thanks to these laptops, we can reduce the digital gap that unfortunately still exists.
