Convenience & efficiency
The Alaska container range features a variety of sizes catering to different freezer storage needs, making it versatile for household and professional use. Its comprehensive size range and innovative features are aimed at enhancing user convenience and efficiency in the freezer.
Alaska is a brand by food packaging provider DBP. Maxim Van Herck, Product and Brand Manager: “The Alaska freezer container series originates from an ice cream packaging solution we provided for one of our clients during the 1970s and ‘80s. Frans De Brucker, DBP’s former Managing Director, noticed that many people were repurposing these ice cream containers for freezing sauces, broth, and vegetables. Even back then, we saw an excellent opportunity to bring efficient and convenient reuse into people’s homes.”
IML for iconic quality & look
The original ice cream packaging was decorated with In-Mold Labels. Hence, it was an obvious decision to apply this technology to the new retail freezer container series.
Initially, the label artwork was similar to the ice cream packaging but featured different colors and a star. This evolved into new designs branded with the 'Alaska' name and a writable top, becoming quite iconic in the Benelux region.
“We are continually amazed by the prevalence of our containers in households and restaurants. This recognizability is in no small part due to MCC Verstraete, our IML partner since the series' inception,” says Maxim.
Dishwasher-resistant for enhanced durability
Since the Alaska containers undergo temperatures from freezing to boiling and are washed and reused many times, the IML label needs to withstand these very disperse conditions.
Dishwasher-resistant IML offers an extra level of protection compared to standard IML. We apply special inks and lacquers to maintain the label’s color and quality."
Merel Van de Putte, Sales Relations Advisor IML at MCC
The durability of these labels, keeping up the look of the freezer boxes for many years, turns out to be a cornerstone of the series' success. After all, no one wants labels that deteriorate or warp over time.
“Our longstanding partnership with MCC Verstraete speaks volumes about the reliability and quality of their labels. This line of reusable freezer containers has, and hopefully will continue to, serve households and foodservice businesses by providing a reliable solution for food preservation and ease of freezing and defrosting,” Maxim concludes.
“We’ve been working closely with DBP for decades now. Their commitment to quality has played a significant role in the success and recognition of the series. We’re proud that our Dishwasher-resistant IML labels serve households across our region through their classic Alaska range!” Merel adds.
