The German Lebanese Co. for Industry (GLC) is a leading manufacturer of paint products in Africa and the Middle East. They’ve built a reputation for supplying top-quality paint solutions across all market segments. When a need for a first-class range of exterior coatings emerged within the Egyptian and African markets, GLC’s commitment to delivering excellence propelled them into action.
Taking it to the next level
They undertook extensive research, studying every similar product range available. Refusing to settle for anything less than the best, they continued innovating until they had developed a brand-new benchmark for quality in exterior paint. And so, Storm Shield was born.
Storm Shield is a high-end family of exterior coatings that protect and beautify any surface. It stands apart from its competitors through the exclusive use of top-quality ingredients, delivering a maximum durability, highly washable and premium product that includes anti-algae and antifungal properties. Dubbed “The Ultimate Exterior Defense”, the Storm Shield range is designed to not only appeal to end users but consultants, architects and designers - it’s a valuable tool in bringing their visions to life with a spectacular and long-lasting finish.
Every product in the range delivers a rich and vibrant finish that stands the test of time. And they’ve been tested and approved by independent European labs to ensure ultimate quality.
The hunt for the perfect packaging
The collaboration between MCC Verstraete and GLC was initiated during Storm Shield’s early development stages. GLC CEO Anwer El Hout speaks of the need for top-quality packaging: “To market our high-end Storm Shield range, we needed packaging that represents the quality and durability of the paint inside. IML was the obvious choice for creating an innovative and exclusive design, and Metallic IML in particular provides unique and eye-catching options.”
IML comes with multiple advantages compared to other types of labels, such as direct print and self-adhesive options. The benefits go above and beyond appearance. IML is a solution that’s flexible: when it’s time to update the label design, this can be done quickly and easily, with many options for creating the right look and feel. They make labeling a breeze using a one-step process that bypasses any need to manufacture pails and labels separately. And the results are difficult to copy - a factor that’s paramount in the paint world due to the proliferation of counterfeiting.
Joe Kaddoum, MCC Verstraete’s Regional Sales Manager for the Middle East and Africa, was quick to recognize Metallic IML as the ideal solution for matching the high-class look and feel of the Storm Shield products: “The color scope available with Metallic IML is incredibly unique. There’s a certain gradient in the Storm Shield range that’s difficult to achieve without using Metallic Foil. But with Metallic IML, we display this impressive element right there on the label.”

Standing out on the shelf
To create the optimal labels for Storm Shield, MCC Verstraete and GLC customized an exclusive design using Metallic IML Foil, Matt + Spot HighGloss, creating a firstclass finish that shows elegance.
Metallic IML captures attention on any shelf. The customer immediately recognizes a superior, high-end product. Metallic IML preserves the look and feel of a metallic paint can, with the added bonus of being less expensive. It gives the paint pail an exquisite shine and adds an element of modernity and class that is perfect for the Storm Shield range.
Lighting up the marketplace
Storm Shield has been launched during summer 2020 gradually across GLC’s entire network of accredited distributors. Products are available in sizes ranging from 1 L to 20 L.
Based on the success of early releases, El Hout is optimistic that Storm Shield will take the industry by storm: “We’re currently supplying several landmark projects in Egypt and other countries in Africa and the reaction thus far has been nothing short of stellar. Not only has it surpassed our own expectations, but those of the consultants that approved Storm Shield paints for their projects.”
Storm Shield is truly a giant leap forward in the quality customers can expect from exterior paint. And thanks to GLC’s collaboration with MCC Verstraete and the innovative technology of Metallic IML, this revolutionary range is destined to make the industry take notice.
